Rishan Kuruppu

Director of Adult Tennis

Rishan comes to Proform Tennis from Vancouver, Canada. As a player he was ranked top 5 in Canada throughout his junior career and represented Canada in International events worldwide. His college career included Captaining DIV 1 MTSU’s Tennis Team to a Top 20 national ranking and conference championship. Rishan teaches all ages and abilities and has been nationally recognized for leading USTA women teams. In 2010 he coached the Rye, Brook Proformers who finished ranked 6 in the country. Rishan is a USPTA and PTR professional. In the summer months he is the Director of Tennis at the Roton Point Club, in Rowayton CT.

Jan Cingel

Director of Competitive Tennis

Jan was born in Bardejov, Slovakia. He graduated from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in December 2009 with a double major in Finance and Occupational Training and Development. He was also a member of the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Tennis team which was top 75 in NCAA D1 during his college career. In 2006 he was named The Southland Conference MVP, and in 2008 The Texas A&M Hardest Working Player of The Year. As a junior player, Jan had an ITF World Junior Ranking and was top ten in Slovakia in all junior age groups. In the past Jan was the Director of Junior Tennis in Tokeneke Tennis Club for spring and summer seasons and is the current Director of Tennis at Roxbury Swim & Tennis Club. As a coach, Jan received the P.T.R Professional Certification.

Bruno Puzzi

Spring / Summer Director

Bruno, a native son of Santos, Brazil, truly excelled as a young player in his home country. From a very early age, Bruno won countless regional and national accolades in Brazil and South America including three titles on the Circuit COSAT with victories over Fernando Gonzales, Guillermo Coria, and Nicholas Massu. Bruno also won two Banana Bowl doubles titles (the Banana Bowl is deemed one of the best of the prestigious ITF World Junior competitions). Bruno was ultimately ranked in the Top 5 players in Brazil between the ages of 12 and 18. Coming to the US in 1997, Bruno attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL). Returning to his home country to be closer to his family after almost 6 years in the US, Bruno served as Head Pro and Director of Tennis Operations at the beautiful Centro de excelÍncia de TÍnis (CET) which is located in the northern Brazilian city of San Luis. From 2006 to 2007, Bruno was the Men’s Tennis Coordinator for his college alma mater. Prior to joining the Proform team, Bruno was Assistant Head Pro for the summer and winter 2007/2008 at Armonk Indoor. Bruno has coached Bethany Matteck who was ranked in the Top 120 in the world. Bruno graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2004 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Sergio Barbu

Tennis Professional

Sergio Barbu was born in Bucharest, Romania. After coming to the US, Sergio competed in the ETA and ITF circuits as a junior. He played college tennis at Concordia College, NY as #1 singles and #2 doubles and as a member of the team he won the ITA ROLEX QUALIFYING CHAMPIONSHIP and participated in the NCAA Division 2 tournament in his sophomore year. Sergio has attained a Top 20 national collegiate ranking and also received the “Player to watch" award. Prior to joining the Proform Tennis Academy team Sergio taught at Soundshore Indoor Tennis Club in the winters and has been the head pro at New Rochelle Tennis Club in New Rochelle, NY and Tamarack Country Club.

Donovan McSeveney

Tennis Professional

Donovan, originally from South Africa, played two years at Collin College, TX where he claimed the first Double All American singles and doubles national champion that college ever had.  He was also an All American in his sophomore year by claim the doubles national title again and ending his doubles career ranked #1 NJCAA.  After transferring to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he played Div 1 tennis and established a Bachelor Degree in Finance.  Donovan received an ATP ranking in his senior year after winning 4 rounds of qualifying and a round in the main draw.  For the past two summers Donovan has work with Proform's Director of Competitive Tennis, Jan Cingel, at Roxbury Swim & Tennis Club and will join him again this coming summer.

Michaela Meszarosova

Tennis Professional

Michaela Meszarosova is from Bratislava, Slovakia. As a junior she achieved several milestones, including being ranked in the top 300 in world on the junior ITF circuit. She was ranked in the top 3 under 18 in Slovakia, and also represented the Slovak national team during her junior career. During her collegiate career she helped lead Division 1 University of South Alabama to a 2015 Sun Belt Conference title. She has been captain and reached numerous individual accolades; including being selected to the 2013 First All-Conference Doubles team, in 2015 she received Second All-Conference Doubles team, and furthermore, in 2016 she received Second All-Team Conference Singles and Doubles honors. Michaela has been Assistant Pro at Weeburn Country Club and most recently the Roton Point Club in Rowayton, CT. Michaela is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a BS in exercise science.

Alex Stoler

Tennis Professional

Hailing from New Jersey, Alex is excited to join out team at Proform. After an accomplished junior career, he went on to study at New York University, receiving a B.A in Film Studies.

A part of the NYU tennis team, Alex was recognized as a Division III All-American with is doubles ranking reaching a career high of 13 in the nation. He was also named captain in his senior year. Before coming to Proform, Alex worked as an instructor at both West Rock Tennis Club and Dellwood County Club in Rockland County. He also spent a summer in Holland and Germany coaching up and coming junior players.  Alex currently spends the summer months assisting our Director of Adult Tennis, Rishan Kuruppu at Roton Point Club.
