Bruno Puzzi

Director of Tennis

A native son of Santos, Brazil, Bruno truly excelled as a young player in his home country. Not only was he ranked in the Top 5 players in Brazil between the ages of 12 and 18 he also won countless regional and national accolades in Brazil and South America including three titles on the Circuit COSAT. He also won two Banana Bowl doubles titles (deemed one of the best of the prestigious ITF World Junior competitions). Bruno attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL) and with his help the UL men’s team was ranked among the Top 16 teams in the US in 1998. Bruno was also the 1999-00 Men’s NCAA Division I Tennis Singles Conference Champion. Since leaving university, Bruno has held a number of important coaching and instructing roles including Men’s Tennis Coordinator for his alma mater, Head Pro and Director of Tennis Operations at the beautiful Centro de excelÍncia de TÍnis (CET) in San Luis, Brazil as well has coaching Bethany Matteck. Bruno graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2004 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Rishan Kuruppu

Senior Head Pro

Rishan comes to Proform Tennis from Vancouver, Canada. As a player he was ranked top 5 in Canada throughout his junior career and represented Canada in International events worldwide. His college career included Captaining DIV 1 MTSU’s Tennis Team to a Top 20 national ranking and conference championship. Rishan teaches all ages and abilities and has been nationally recognized for leading USTA women teams. In 2010 he coached the Rye, Brook Proformers who finished ranked 6 in the country. Rishan is a USPTA and PTR professional. In the summer months he is the Director of Tennis at the Roton Point Club, in Rowayton CT.


Jan Cingel

Senior Head Pro

Jan was born in Bardejov, Slovakia. He graduated from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in December 2009 with a double major in Finance and Occupational Training and Development. He was also a member of the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Tennis team which was top 75 in NCAA D1 during his college career. In 2006 he was named The Southland Conference MVP, and in 2008 The Texas A&M Hardest Working Player of The Year. As a junior player, Jan had an ITF World Junior Ranking and was top ten in Slovakia in all junior age groups. In the past Jan was the Director of Junior Tennis in Tokeneke Tennis Club for spring and summer seasons and is the current Director of Tennis at Roxbury Swim & Tennis Club. As a coach, Jan received the P.T.R Professional Certification.


Sergio Barbu

Tennis Professional

Sergio Barbu was born in Bucharest, Romania. After coming to the US, Sergio competed in the ETA and ITF circuits as a junior. He played college tennis at Concordia College, NY as #1 singles and #2 doubles and as a member of the team he won the ITA ROLEX QUALIFYING CHAMPIONSHIP and participated in the NCAA Division 2 tournament in his sophomore year. Sergio has attained a Top 20 national collegiate ranking and also received the “Player to watch" award. Prior to joining the Proform Tennis Academy team Sergio taught at Soundshore Indoor Tennis Club in the winters and has been the head pro at New Rochelle Tennis Club in New Rochelle, NY and Tamarack Country Club.


Michaela Meszarosova

Tennis Professional

Michaela Meszarosova is from Bratislava, Slovakia. As a junior she achieved several milestones, including being ranked in the top 300 in world on the junior ITF circuit. She was ranked in the top 3 under 18 in Slovakia, and also represented the Slovak national team during her junior career. During her collegiate career she helped lead Division 1 University of South Alabama to a 2015 Sun Belt Conference title. She has been captain and reached numerous individual accolades; including being selected to the 2013 First All-Conference Doubles team, in 2015 she received Second All-Conference Doubles team, and furthermore, in 2016 she received Second All-Team Conference Singles and Doubles honors. Michaela has been Assistant Pro at Weeburn Country Club and at Roton Point Club in Rowayton, CT. Michaela is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a BS in exercise science.

Enrique Catter

Tennis Professional

Originally from Lima Peru, Enrique started playing tennis from the age of 2 years old. In 1999/2000 he reached the top 4 of the 18&U division and was the Peruvian National Champion 2000 & 2001.

Graduating from Webber International University, FL with a degree in Business Administration, Enrique player number one each year where he reached a national ranking of 19 in singles and 21 in doubles, he was honored as All American 3 years in a row as well as receiving “All Regional Team” and “All Conference” awards. Enrique played for one year at the professional level.

At IMG Bolliteri Tennis Academy Enrique was a teaching pro and hitting partner to players such as Helena Jankovic (Former #1 in the world) , Taylor Dent, Daniela Hantuchova, Max Mirnyi (former #1 in the world in doubles), Jamea Jackson and others. For the Summer of 2015 Enrique was the personal trainer and traveling coach of former PTA players Sam Swank, ranked as the number 1 player in the East and top 20 in the country and Blake Niehause, who was top 10 in the East and top 100 in the country.

With strong ties to our area as a former Director of Racquets at Shenorock Shore Club, assistant pro at Greenwich Country Club and Paddle Director at the Country Club of Fairfield, Enrique brings to Proform Tennis Academy his passion for tennis and teaching and is excited to share his knowledge. He is USPTR & USPTA certified. Enrique has recently taken up the fun sport of POP Tennis and reached the mixed doubles finals and men's doubles semi-finals in the 2017 POP Tennis Open!



Piotr Banas

Tennis Professional

Originally from Poland, Piotr has some notable achievements while playing as a junior in Europe, including bronze medalist athlete European Championships Boys 18’s, Round of 16 at the Orange Bowl and National Polish Champion for Boys 14, 16 & 18.
Attending the University of Louisiana Lafayette Piotr graduated with a B.A. in Sports Management and an M.A in Business Administration. There he was ranked individually amongst the top 25 in Division 1 and earned All American status in tennis for the NCAA Division 1. Piotr was Captain of the ULL TENNIS TEAM and received an NCAA Division I Full Tennis Scholarship. Piotr gained Professional ATP Pro Tour Rankings in both singles and doubles.
During the 2008 US Open Series, Piotr coached Agnieszka Radwanska and has been a hitting partner for Jelena Ostapenko and Noah Rubin.
Piotr is currently the head professional for the Rockefeller Family Private Country Club, which has a membership of 250 he is also certified USPTA Elite Professional.

Alex Stoler

Tennis Professional


After an accomplished junior career, Alex went on to study at New York University, receiving a B.A in Film Studies.


A part of the NYU tennis team, Alex was recognized as a Division III All-American with is doubles ranking reaching a career high of 13 in the nation. He was also named captain in his senior year. Before coming to Proform, Alex worked as an instructor at both West Rock Tennis Club and Dellwood County Club in Rockland County. He also spent a summer in Holland and Germany coaching up and coming junior players.
