The Importance of the Continental Grip

I believe that the first stroke to teach a child at an early age is the continental grip. Every stroke with the exception of the forehand should be hit with a continental grip. Backhand, forehand & backhand slice, volleys, overhead, serve, drop shot, lob should all be hit with a continental grip. It is a lot easier to change from continental to semi-western or western for one stroke (forehand), than it is to change from semi-western or western to all the other strokes. ~ Juan Oscar Rios
